GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Greensboro Police Chief John Thompson plans to retire in 2026, according to a press release from the Greensboro Police Department.
Thompson will become eligible for retirement in February. He said the difficulty in finding a balance between work and family is attributed to his retirement.
“As many of you know, my twins will soon be headed to middle school and it’s time for me to devote much more of my time to them (while they still like hanging out with me). It’s that simple. My faith and my family are deeply important to me, and it has admittedly been a challenge to find balance while wanting to also be fully engaged with the amazing community we are honored to serve,” he said to GPD employees on Wednesday…
