Sweet’s Turkey BBQ offers free meals to help families affected by the shutdown

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A local black-owned business is stepping up to feed families affected by the ongoing government shutdown.

Sweet’s Turkey BBQ, owned by husband-and-wife team Alex and Kassinda White, is offering free meals Wednesday to anyone who shows an EBT card or valid federal ID. The giveaway runs from 4 to 6 p.m. at St. Stephen United Church of Christ.

“We’ve been in business for 10 years,” Alex White said. “A lot of things we do aren’t public, we give back to the homeless, IRC, and Downtown Urban Ministry. We give plates.”…
