On November 24, 2025, deputies from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported assault on Beckerdite Road in Sophia, North Carolina. When they arrived, they found Bobby Dale Jones, Jr., age 45, in a vehicle near the scene. Jones exited the vehicle, did not follow deputies’ commands, and resisted arrest. A physical struggle occurred during the arrest.
Deputies determined that Jones had caused property damage and assaulted people at the location. He was charged with two counts of felony assault causing physical injury on law enforcement officers.
