The City of Greensboro is reminding residents about yard waste collection guidelines. These rules were implemented last year to help keep neighborhoods clean and prevent blocked storm drains. Residents should use their 95-gallon gray yard waste carts for fall yard debris. Any extra waste should go in biodegradable paper bags or be bundled with natural twine.
From November 1 through February, the city will collect up to 15 bags or bundles per week from the curb. For the rest of the year, the limit is 10 bags or bundles per week. The city uses an educational approach to help residents follow the rules. If a violation is found, a warning is given and residents have 14 days to comply. During this time, no new yard waste should be placed at the curb. If the issue is not fixed after two weeks, a $75 fine is issued.
