Guilford County Schools to operate remotely Friday, explains how weather decisions are made

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Guilford County Schools’ Superintendent of School Safety and Emergency Management shared insight into how weather-related delay or cancellation decisions are made.

Mike Richey says the schools get weather briefings, work with local and state emergency management, and have a transportation team that assesses bus routes.

If they have strong information, the schools may make a delay or cancellation decision the day before, or days in advance, but more often they assess the roads the morning of the school day in question…
