GREENSBORO, N.C. — Holiday shopping is picking up across the Triad, and so are warnings from law enforcement and local businesses about staying safe in crowded stores and parking lots.
At Friendly Center in Greensboro, shopper John Bream spent Thursday afternoon filling carts at Toys & Co. for his family’s annual Toys for Tots fundraiser. He said the tradition is about giving back, but it also means thinking about safety from the moment he steps into the parking lot.
“Unfortunately, this time of year, things can go south in a parking lot, you get pickpocketed or robbed or something like that,” Bream said. “Just making sure that, you know, your kids aren’t on their tablet or you’re not lost in your phone.”…
