Piedmont Triad could see snow flurries Friday morning

(WGHP) — Winds will continue to weaken through the remainder of the afternoon and evening, leaving us with some calmer winds into Friday and Saturday. Temperatures fall into the 30s once the sun sets tonight, and clouds begin to roll in after 9 p.m.

Overnight, we’ll see mostly cloudy skies and temperatures won’t move much with morning lows on Friday in the upper 20s. By early Friday morning, we’ll have the potential for some snow flurries, mainly north of I-85 and I-40. The chance is fairly low with the better potential closer to the NC/VA state line. The chance for flurries will mainly be between 4 AM and 10 AM. No accumulation is expected with the exception of some light accumulation on elevated surfaces further north. Afternoon highs reach the mid 40s.

On Saturday, mostly sunny skies return with morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs reach the low 50s. A strong cold front will move in for the end of our weekend, ushering in arctic air for Sunday and Monday. Temperatures will be falling throughout the day Sunday with our warmest temperature happening Sunday morning and the coldest temperature of the day at the night. We’ll be falling from the upper 30s Sunday morning to the low 20s by the end of the day. We’ll see clouds in the morning, skies will clear into the afternoon. It’ll also be windy on Sunday with northwest winds at 10-20 mph and gusts up to 35 mph possible. That means it’ll feel even colder than the 20s for the majority of the day…
