Missing, endangered teenage girl found during Asheboro traffic stop on Christmas Eve

ASHEBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A missing and endangered teenage girl was found during a traffic stop in Asheboro on Christmas Eve, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

On Wednesday, deputies tried to pull over a vehicle on West Dixie Drive in Asheboro.

Investigators say that the driver, 35-year-old Toni Charles Koontz, initially failed to stop; however, he eventually pulled over in the area of US 64 and Park Street. Koontz did not have a valid driver’s license and “displayed signs of extreme nervousness.” A K-9 unit was brought in and alerted deputies to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.

The vehicle was searched and methamphetamine, heroin, and multiple items of drug paraphernalia were seized…
