Normal temps return after unusually warm Christmas in Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — After record-setting warmth on Christmas Day, we will be back to normal today. Clouds have been increasing overnight and temperatures hit a high of 60 degrees just after midnight. For the rest of the day, we’ll have temperatures hovering in the lower-50s under mostly cloudy skies.

Tonight, we’ll start with clouds, then the skies are expected to clear out nicely.  Lows will be in the mid-40s.

A system to the west is going to give temperatures a boost on Saturday.  We will have partly cloudy skies with highs near 70 degrees, so plan to get some time outdoors!  A chilly dome of high pressure is forecast to settle across the Mid-Atlantic on Sunday, cooling our temperatures back to the lower-50s under cloudy skies.

Scattered showers may bring us around 1/3 inch of rain on Monday.  An approaching cold front is bringing in these scattered showers along with mild temperatures, in the lower-60s.  The chance of rain is 30%…
