Cloudy, highs to reach low 50s Sunday in the Piedmont Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — Another record warm December day in the Piedmont Triad with highs reaching 75°. Today’s high surpassed the previous record by just one degree, which was 74° set in 2015. Temperatures will fall quickly through the remainder of the evening, and Sunday will bring another 180° switch-up in our weather.

Clouds roll in overnight Saturday into Sunday and they’ll continue to blanket the sky to end the weekend. Temperatures start off in the low 40s in the morning and only reach the low 50s in the afternoon. A few stray showers can’t be ruled out but the majority of us look to remain dry.

Temperatures will increase overnight Sunday into Monday morning ahead of another strong cold front. We’ll likely be in the upper 50s when waking up Monday morning with highs in the low 60s before the cold front ushers in colder air. Temperatures will fall through the remainder of the day Monday and winds will be strong as well. Winds will be sustained at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph possible.
