Expect breezy New Year’s Day in Piedmont Triad

(WGHP) — We’ve seen a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day, and mostly clear skies will become partly cloudy skies throughout the evening. Temperatures will fall into the upper 30s by 9 p.m. If you’re planning to head to any New Year’s Eve parties tonight, you’ll want the big coat as temperatures will be in the mid to upper 30s around midnight.

Most people love to ring in the new year with fireworks. However, this year, you’ll need to be extra careful or consider something without fire. The ground is very dry and so is the air which means our fire risk for this evening and tonight is increased and winds remain breezy this evening and tonight. Southwest winds of 5 to 15 mph with gusts of 20-25 mph are possible.

New Year’s Day starts off in the low 30s, and afternoon highs reach the low 50s. It’ll be a typical January day in the Triad, and skies will be a mix of sun and clouds. Northwest winds will continue to be breezy with sustained winds of 5 to 15 mph and gusts up to 25 mph possible…
