GREENSBORO, N.C. — Starting this week, the government is sending out notices about garnishing the wages of student loan borrowers who are in default. It’s serious, we’re talking 15% out of a paycheck.
Also starting this week, scammers will be trying to trick all student loan borrowers into thinking something is wrong with their loans. Experts say it’s a given.
“When in doubt, always go directly to the source. If you’re unsure of an email you got or a phone call you got, hang up and close the email and go directly to Studentaid.gov.
