WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A man is being charged in a deadly hit-and-run crash that took the life of a 28-year-old woman on Monday night, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.
At around 6:56 p.m. on Monday, officers came to the 800 block of East Sprague Street after getting a report of a crash involving a car and two pedestrians.

Investigators say that 28-year-old Kayla Marie Allen and a 55-year-old man were crossing East Sprague Street at Burgundy Street in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by a 2003 Nissan Sentra. The driver of the Nissan, 25-year-old Maleek Xavier Williamson, did not stop and left the scene.
Allen was pronounced dead at the scene. The 55-year-old man suffered minor injuries.
