Just before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, opening statements began in the Issiah Ross murder trial at the Orange County Courthouse in downtown Hillsborough. Ross is charged in the 2022 deaths of Lyric Woods of Hillsborough, and Devin Clark of Mebane.
The prosecution began by describing the final moments the parents of the two teens saw them, the hours spent wondering where their children were when they had not returned home, and the calls made to law enforcement to report the teens as missing.
As she spoke to the members of the jury, the lead prosecutor described the scene where the bodies of Woods and Clark were found by two men on 4X4s checking trail cameras. The attorney said deputies found 12 shell casings, allegedly from the same gun. Woods had been shot seven times, and Clark had six bullet wounds.
