More than 400 roosters seized in suspected cockfighting operation in Walkertown, sheriff’s office says

WALKERTOWN, N.C. — Authorities are investigating a suspected cockfighting operation after hundreds of roosters were discovered at a property in Walkertown, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and Forsyth County Animal Services have been at the property off Baux Mountain Road for more than 24 hours as part of an active investigation.

Officials said Animal Services received a tip Wednesday requesting a welfare check at the property. When a deputy responded, they noticed signs consistent with cockfighting. Investigators then got a search warrant…
