Man pleads guilty to setting fire inside Forsyth County Courthouse, DA says

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — A man accused of setting a fire inside the Forsyth County Courthouse pleaded guilty this week and was sentenced to probation, according to the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office.

Treymale De’Angelo Harrison entered guilty pleas Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, to felony charges of burning a public building and burning personal property, stemming from a fire set in a third-floor men’s restroom at the courthouse on Oct. 21, 2025.

Deputies discovered smoke near the public elevators that morning and found multiple piles of burning documents spread across the restroom floor and counter. The fire was extinguished before it spread beyond the restroom, but courthouse personnel, members of the public and 17 inmates were evacuated as a precaution…
