GREENSBORO, N.C. — After a wintry mix fell during a dangerous winter storm across the Piedmont Triad, city officials are outlining how roads will be treated and when drivers can expect streets to be cleared.
The City of Greensboro said it prioritizes snow and ice response based on roadway type, with major thoroughfares treated first, followed by bus routes, collectors and neighborhood streets. In total, the city maintains 2,431 miles of roadway.
Road priorities
- Priority 1 routes include major thoroughfares such as Wendover Avenue and Battleground Avenue, covering approximately 1,180 miles.
- Priority 2 routes consist of minor thoroughfares, bus routes and residential collectors, totaling 524 miles.
- Priority 3 routes include neighborhood and residential streets, accounting for 727 miles.
