RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The winter storm has arrived in central North Carolina and won’t depart until early Monday morning.
This will bring significant impacts across central NC, with the main concern being ice accumulations. Cold air has also arrived and will be wedged in at the surface. Warmth and moisture overriding the cold air at the surface is the perfect setup for ice.
So it comes as no surprise that the roads are covered in ice Sunday morning. According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, all interstates are covered in now and ice, all primary roads are also covered in snow and ice — and that’s for all counties across our region.
