GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — The trial of a former Greensboro police officer charged with manslaughter in a man’s shooting death continued this week.
Matthew Hamilton, then an officer with the Greensboro Police Department, was indicted in June 2022 in connection with the 2021 shooting death of Joseph Lopez. He was subsequently fired from GPD. Hamilton’s trial began on Jan. 12, 2026.
