Stuck on the side of the road? What 911 says you should do next…

GREENSBORO, N.C. — To say there were hundreds of car crashes and stranded cars on this Winter Storm day would almost be an understatement. As of noon on Saturday, the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to 750 collisions and 817 calls for service. In Greensboro alone, there were 41 crash calls and 61 traffic assistance calls.

“If you see a vehicle on the side of the road and there is a yellow tag on it, caution tape, it has been tended to and checked. We’ll come back at a later time,” said Breanna Edwards, Guliford Metro 911, Supervisor. But if you see a car on the side of the road without that yellow tape, alert authorities; there could be someone inside.

911 operators were quick to say, if you don’t have to be on the road, don’t be. But if you find yourself stuck on the side of the road or need assistance for something roadside, you should stay inside your car and turn your hazard lights on…
