GREENSBORO, N.C. — With snow expected to draw families to popular hills across the Triad this weekend, safety experts are reminding the public that sledding fun can quickly turn dangerous without proper precautions.
Earlier this week, dozens of people were seen sledding on hills around Greensboro, taking advantage of rare snow days. While sledding is a favorite winter activity, emergency responders say poor decision-making, lack of supervision or unsafe terrain can lead to serious injuries — and in some cases, tragedy.
Experts recommend choosing a hill free of obstacles, trees and fences, with a flat area at the bottom to safely slow down. Hills that end near streets, parking lots or bodies of water should always be avoided…
