Refreezing Roads, Bitter Wind Chills Prompt Weather Warnings

JOHNSTON COUNTY — Dangerous cold and icy road conditions are expected to persist across Johnston County and central North Carolina through Monday morning, prompting multiple weather advisories from the National Weather Service.

A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday until 9 a.m. Monday, with wind chills forecast to fall into the single digits and near zero. The National Weather Service warns that frostbite and hypothermia can occur if unprotected skin is exposed to the cold for extended periods.
