With North Carolina receiving winter weather two weekends in a row, is the end of winter in sight? Snerd, one groundhog usually in charge of giving North Carolinans that answer, had to cancel his planned event today because of the snow. Luckily there are other predictors still in action today.
For almost the past 20 years, Snerd the prognosticating groundhog has been the face of Groundhog Day in Garner.
“He is the most accurate groundhog in the country,” said Kindra Mammone, the executive director of CLAWS Inc., a volunteer-run rehabilitation facility in the Triangle.
