Sometimes one inch can change your life. For High Point Fire Chief, Brian Evans, one inch is what set him on his career path in the High Point Fire Department.
Growing up in Summerfield, Brian has been part of the Triad community for his entire life. His family farmed throughout his childhood, but when it came time for Brian to forge his own path, he wasn’t entirely sure what he wanted to do. After being an athlete in high school, he knew he wanted to stay active, and the idea of public safety had been in his mind for a while.
But when in his young twenties, Brian went to the Highway Patrol Recruiting office in Greensboro to apply to be a highway patrolman, he found out that there was a height limit of six feet, five inches. The six-foot, six-inch-tall Brian missed what he thought was his future career by one inch. But his journey in the public safety world was far from over. It was only just beginning…
