Belk heir acquires Sales Factory, steps in as CEO

Greensboro-based marketing agency Sales Factory has a new owner and leader. Rob Belk, an heir of the department store chain, has acquired the leading Triad agency and will assume the role of CEO.

Former CEO Ged King will remain with the company as chief revenue officer and equity partner, focusing on new business development and the leadership transition. The business was started in 1984 by King’s father, the late George King, and has grown to 51 employees, with 41 based in the Triad and a second office in Raleigh.

Rob Belk is the son of Johnny Belk, the president of the Charlotte-based department store at the time of its 2015 sale to the Sycamore Partners private equity firm. Johnny Belk’s father, Tom Belk, joined brother John Belk to share top leadership of the retail business for decades…
