Man sentenced to prison time for firing shots into High Point public housing in 2024

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A High Point man has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison after firing shots into a public housing building, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Rodney Jamirne Moore Jr., 60, was sentenced Wednesday to 46 months in prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. He will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison term, federal officials said.

The sentence stems from a shooting that occurred April 29, 2024, at the Astor Dowdy Tower, a building operated by the High Point Housing Authority. According to court documents, Moore was reported to be randomly firing a gun outside the building just before noon…
