Major milestone: over 3,000 people now work at the Toyota battery plant

LIBERTY, N.C. — A major milestone for the Toyota battery plant, formally known as Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC), at the Greensboro Randolph megasite. More than 3,000 people now work at the facility in Liberty.

The $14-billion dollar facility on its sprawling 1,850 acre campus is making batteries for hybrids right now. TBMNC will launch batteries for all-electric vehicles later this year. Production of batteries for plug-in hybrids is expected to start in mid-2027.

Eventually, a planned 5,100 will work there with the plant is fully up and running and producing 14 battery production lines…
