A routine day of serving ice cream in a Greensboro, North Carolina neighborhood suddenly turned chaotic after a man decided to confront an ice cream truck driver. The female driver, who says she has been welcomed in the neighborhood for more than six years, was approached by the man while she was driving her vehicle and he immediately began demanding that she leave the area, claiming that she was “soliciting.”

Full Disclosure to My Pinky Lovers… Pinky Loves Y’all Back 💗 I never want to be in or out of uniform anywhere I am not welcome. As a boots-on-the-ground Veteran, I’ve been trained to read environments, and yesterday was one of the few times I truly felt unsafe while serving a neighborhood. First, I sincerely apologize to the family this individual also directed his anger toward. No one deserves that, especially during something meant to bring joy. I’m sharing this because my loyal neighborhoods deserve transparency. I am human, and while I pray 2026 continues with peace and positivity, today was a reminder that not every environment is safe or kind. For that reason, I made the decision to leave immediately. For those who know me, you know I serve with respect. If music needs to be lowered or turned off, I do so. I honor community rules, gated spaces, and noise ordinances. I will never impose where I am not welcome. I also filed a harassment report with the Greensboro Police Department, not out of anger, but out of responsibility for my safety and the safety of the families I serve. This was especially difficult because this was the very first neighborhood I ever served. Ice cream trucks have been part of American neighborhoods for generations. The jingle represents joy, childhood, and community. That is all I have ever wanted to bring. I will continue to serve with love, but I will also continue to protect myself and my child. Because yes… sometimes my Brown Son is with me. As history has shown us through tragedies like Trayvon Martin and so many others who my skin matches, some realities cannot be Ignored. Still I choose love. I choose prayer. I choose to keep showing up for the neighborhoods that welcome Pinky with open arms. Thank you to everyone who checked on me today. It meant more than you know. Safety first. Love always. 🍦🇺🇸 — Pinky #NeighborhoodSafety #PinkyLovesYouBack #GreensboroNC #IceCreamTruck #CommunityFirstVeteranOwned…
