GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A man who was shot after allegedly shooting at Greensboro police faced a judge Monday, the day after his arrest.
During court, Oliver Wendell Watlington, 59, was accused of using a handgun to force two women to hand over their phones in the parking lot of Studio 6, a motel on the 2000 block of Veasley Street, on Jan. 22. He allegedly punched one of the women in the face and grabbed the other’s buttocks in the parking lot. This happened two days before an exchange of gunfire with police on Veasley Street.
During court on Monday, Watlington tried to speak up to address the Jan. 22 incident, but the judge referred him to the public defender. He appeared virtually with a medical bag, which he said was for his injuries after being shot by an officer…
