ASHEBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Five years later, the family of a young man shot and killed in Asheboro says they are relieved to hear about an arrest in the case, but they have lingering questions.
Roberto McIntyre appeared in court facing two counts of first-degree murder, among other charges, in a 2021 shooting that left 25-year-old Eli Gainey and a 16-year-old dead, as well as a two-year-old injured.

McIntyre appeared virtually for his first appearance on Wednesday, requested a lawyer and didn’t get a bond. The news is huge for the Gainey family since the arrest is something they have been waiting for years for justice.
