North Carolina Senate Leader Phil Berger and Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page’s primary race is heating up, as Berger’s campaign accuses Democratic-aligned groups of attempting to influence the race in Page’s favor. Page, in response, says he’s not aware of what Berger is suggesting and says to “consider the source” of the accusations, Berger’s campaign.
In a press release issued last week, Berger’s campaign claimed that Democratic activists and organizations have entered the Republican primary in an attempt to boost Page’s candidacy. The press release mentions recent ads and statements from people tied to Democratic politics as proof of outsider involvement.
