EDEN, N.C. — A mother from North Carolina who had been missing for more than two decades has been found “alive and well,” according to officials.
The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Friday that Michele Hundley Smith, who disappeared in December 2001 after leaving her Eden home to go Christmas shopping, has been found alive in North Carolina. Deputies said she is safe, but at her request, her location will not be released. Officials also said no charges are expected.
According to her husband, Smith had left home to travel to K-Mart in Martinsville, Virginia, to shop and never returned. She was 38 at the time of her reported disappearance, and her car was never found…
