Franklin Moore wins Democratic nomination for Rockingham County sheriff

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Franklin Moore has won the Democratic primary for Rockingham County Sheriff, capturing 63.8% of the vote Tuesday night to claim the party’s nomination over John Ferrell Jr.

Moore, a former Stoneville police chief with more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, received 2,818 votes to Ferrell’s 1,599, which represented 36.2% of the vote.

Moore advances to the November general election, where he will face Republican nominee Billy Parker in a race to succeed Sheriff Sam Page, who has led the office since 1998 and did not seek reelection…
