Asheboro, N.C. – N.C. Wesleyan traveled to Asheboro on Saturday for a doubleheader against Greensboro at McCrary Park, producing a strong offensive showing in the opener before falling 21-14, and then dropping a tightly contested 3-2 decision in the nightcap.
In game one, the Battling Bishops jumped out quickly and built an early lead behind an explosive offensive performance. Maison Nance opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning, and Wesleyan continued to add runs throughout the early innings. Riley Anderson tripled and scored in the second, while Banks Hartman, Brady Williams, and Malachi Hayes each delivered RBI hits during a three-run third inning to stretch the lead. The Bishops added two more in the fourth and another run in the fifth before breaking the game open with a six-run sixth inning highlighted by a two-run double from Hayes and a two-RBI single from Jake Flowers. Hayes finished with four hits and four RBIs, Anderson added three hits and three runs scored, and Flowers collected three hits and two RBIs as Wesleyan totaled 18 hits in the contest.
