3 hurt, 1 critical after crash, car fire on Interstate 40 West in Greensboro: ‘Never seen anything like that in my entire life’

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Drivers on Interstate 40 West are experiencing delays due to a crash and fire that has closed that side of the interstate, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

The scene of the crash is at Mile Marker 208 near Exit 208 for Sandy Ridge Road.

Greensboro police say that I-40 West is closed at NC 68. The left two lanes of I-40 East are also closed as a result of the crash.

Traffic camera footage showed a large vehicle fire near the median of the I-40.

The latest traffic camera footage shows that flames have been brought down significantly

Traffic backup due to the crash and closure is now extending back up into US 421 near Bunker Hill Road.

Guilford County EMS says that three people were injured in the crash and two of them were taken to the hospital. One of the people who was taken to the hospital’s injuries is considered to be critical and the other two’s injuries are minor…
