Wake Forest Head Coach Jake Dickert spoke to me following the conclusion of practice today, as he discussed some early returns and first impressions.
Coach, Gio Lopez has looked really comfortable in the first couple of days of this spring camp. How valuable do you think it is that due to his time with Rob Ezell at South Alabama, he already knows how to handle this kind of offense you’re going to run?
I think it’s really important. Hey, Gio’s got a big chip on his shoulder, right? And that’s a good thing, you know, but I think his intellectual ability, his leadership abilities really showed out in the field through the first couple days. He’s taken care of the ball. He’s made good and timely decisions. But he scrambled when he’s needed to. I think he’s been great so far. So excited about this start. Anxious to get the pads back on…
