Nearly 2,000 customers without power in Rockingham County

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Nearly 2,000 Duke Energy customers are without power after a brush fire damaged utility equipment, according to the company’s outage map.

The fire, reported at 179 Sunset Trail, was caused when a power line came into contact with a tree, igniting the blaze, Rockingham County EMS said.

The outage, first reported at 4:27 p.m. Monday, affects exactly 1,943 customers. Service is expected to be restored by 11 p.m., Duke Energy said…
