EDEN, N.C. — Michele Hundley Smith, the Eden woman who vanished in 2001 and was found living in Robeson County last month, is due in Rockingham County court on Thursday on an outstanding warrant tied to a DWI charge from more than two decades ago.
Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page said Smith told investigators she initially left in December 2001 because of an ongoing domestic dispute. Authorities confirmed her whereabouts on Feb. 20, a day after the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about her location.
Arrest records show Smith was living in Saint Pauls, a small community south of Fayetteville, when Robeson County deputies took her into custody Feb. 25 at the request of Rockingham County authorities…
