BURLINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) —We know the major cities in the Piedmont Triad, such as Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point, are growing quickly.
But according to new U.S. Census Bureau data, one of the fastest-growing cities in our area is Burlington.

The new data displayed growth in metropolitan areas, specifically from 2020 to 2025.Community members, like Keith Willis, say they’ve seen the population growth long before that.
“To move down here in 2014, it was 20 years behind … After the 12 years I’ve been here, I’ve seen a lot of improvement,” Willis said.
According to Census data in 2020, the Burlington metro area, which comprises all of Alamance County, went from more than 170,000 people to more than 186,000, with a nearly 1.5% growth from 2024 to 2025…
