In Rockingham County, North Carolina, a woman was reunited with her mother who had been missing for 24 years. Amanda Smith last saw her mother, Michele Hundley Smith, when she was 14. The two finally embraced outside a courthouse on Thursday morning, where Michele was appearing for a 2001 DWI case. Michele had disappeared in December 2001 after going Christmas shopping and was recently found living elsewhere. She told deputies she left due to domestic issues. Amanda said she forgives her mother and plans to support her as they rebuild their relationship.
