RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — Two inmates were mistakenly released from custody today due to human error but were quickly located and returned safely, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident is under internal review and is being handled as a personnel matter. Officials said they are also conducting a broader evaluation of policies, procedures and safeguards to prevent similar incidents.
