2 inmates mistakenly released from Randolph County Jail, taken back into custody, deputies say

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Two inmates are back in custody after being mistakenly released from the Randolph County Jail on Thursday, according to a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The RCSO says procedures are in place to stop inmates from being mistakenly let out, and “human error” contributed to the release of the two inmates.

No one was hurt when the inmates were taken back into custody.

The RCSO says the mistake is being reviewed, and the detention center’s procedures and policies are being looked over for opportunities for improvement…
