One person dead following vehicle crash in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — A man was killed and two others were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning, according to the Greensboro Police Department.

Police said the crash occurred around 2 a.m. near the intersection of South Benbow Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The roadway between Cambridge and Bothwell streets was temporarily closed while emergency crews responded but has since reopened.

Investigators said the driver, identified as Jefferson Lumby Zeledon, was traveling at a high rate of speed along South Benbow Road after allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run in downtown Greensboro.
