Retired K-9 Ethan, who served 7 years with Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, dies at 12

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of retired K-9 Ethan, who died this morning at 12 years and 7 months old.

Ethan served with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office for seven years before retiring in 2022. He was a dual-purpose K-9 trained in explosive detection, tracking, apprehension and search work.

While assigned to the Bailiff’s Office at the Greensboro Courthouse, Ethan conducted hundreds of explosive sweeps, averaging more than 90 per year, and also assisted patrol units with criminal tracking…
