‘He leaves a tremendous legacy’: Spartanburg District Five superintendent set to retire

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Spartanburg District Five Superintendent Dr. Randall Gary has announced his retirement.

In a release, the school system said Dr. Gary plans to retire effective Dec. 31, 2026, after 31 years in public education.

The Board of Trustees accepted Dr. Gary’s retirement after an executive session during the public board meeting Monday, according to the release.
