GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A man accused of injuring two Greenville police officers while they were responding to an assault in April is now facing another charge for flooding part of the Greenville County Detention Center, according to detention officers.
A warrant said Xavier Washington, while an inmate, activated a fire sprinkler head in a cell located in Intake and Release, which led to the area being flooded on Apr. 26. He was the only person in the room.
He is facing an additional charge of malicious injury to courthouse or jail.
Washington was previously arrested on Apr. 13 for attempted murder after resisting arrest, reaching for an officer’s handgun while it was holstered and discharging it, which led to a bullet hitting one of the officers in the arm.
