Pickens County launches South Carolina’s first LOSS Team to support families after suicide deaths

PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Pickens County is set to become the first county in South Carolina to launch a Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) Team. It’s a new initiative aimed at providing immediate support to families in the aftermath of a suicide death.

Beginning July 1, trained peer volunteers with the Half a Sorrow Foundation will respond alongside the Pickens County Coroner’s Office to offer emotional support, resources and hope to people navigating the early stages of grief.

The program is the first of its kind in South Carolina. Similar LOSS Teams operate in 23 other states…
