CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Honduran national was sentenced to two years in prison for his role in carrying out a refund scheme and conspiracy that defrauded nearly half a million dollars from The Home Depot stores in the Carolinas.
According to court records, from 2022 to 2025, Darwin Alberto Corea Calderon conspired to conduct an extensive refund scheme against The Home Depot that caused the retailer to issue hundreds of thousands of dollars in fraudulent refunds.
Corea targeted stores in Spartanburg and Fort Mill, as well as North Carolina locations, including Charlotte, Cornelius, Gastonia, Kannapolis, Matthews, and Statesville…
