Suspect arrested after ‘suspicious package’ scare at Upstate municipal complex

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) — Deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) have made an arrest in connection with a suspicious package call at the Simpsonville Municipal building on July 8th.

On Wednesday, authorities in Knoxville, Tennessee, arrested 57-year-old Aaron Lee Wiles for breach of peace of a high & aggravated nature and bomb hoax, which were obtained by deputies.

The GCSO bomb team was initially called at the request of Simpsonville PD after a briefcase and backpack were left in front of the magistrate’s door at the Simpsonville Municipal building. Upon reviewing surveillance footage, deputies observed the man, later identified as Wiles, placing the bags down and then behaving oddly, standing with outstretched arms towards the municipal building before leaving the scene…
