South Carolina police officer shot, killed in the line of duty

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) – One officer is dead and another injured following a shooting in Columbia.

29-year-old Officer Christopher DeLong died from injuries sustained in an officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday morning. Officer David Dymock was also injured in the shooting and is currently in stable condition.

Officers were dispatched to Holstein Lane at 9:43 a.m. after a woman had called authorities about a man she had a restraining order against was destroying her property. When officers arrived at the scene at approximately 10:32 a.m., however, the suspect had left the home.
